The timetable of the Russian University of Transport for students and staff of every institute. Institutes

The RUT (MIIT) app covers five institutes: VISH — Higher Engineering School, AGA — Civil Aviation Academy, ADKH — Road Management Academy, PISH — Advanced Engineering School “HSR Academy” and IMTK — Institute of International Transport Communications. A group’s and a teacher’s timetable are searched the same way in any of them.

Room, group and teacher workload at MIIT

Workload of rooms, groups and teachers at RUT (MIIT): how many lessons and hours fall on each room, group and teacher, when the peak is and what share of time is taken. The "Occupancy" page counts this from the timetable, and the question is chosen with tabs; for where a room is free right now, in short, see the page Free rooms at RUT (MIIT) right now, while here are all the filters. It is open without signing in: everyone sees the "Free now" and "Rooms" tabs. The "Groups" and "Teachers" tabs compare the load of particular groups and people, so they are available only to staff with the "View the timetable analytics" right — for example, a programme head, a manager and an inspector.

Free now

Which rooms are free at the chosen moment and until what time. The line above the list says which moment it is about: "Right now, 16:05", "Slot 3 · 12:00 — 13:30" or just an interval, and how many are free: "41 of 118 free".

Filters:

  • "Date" and "Slot" — "Right now" by default, and you can choose any class from the bell times;
  • "Free for at least" — "Any", "30 min or more", "60 min or more", "90 min or more";
  • "Show" — "Free", "Busy" or "All rooms". The numbers in the heading are always counted over all rooms, whatever you choose here;
  • "Building", "Floor" and "Order" ("Highest numbers first" or "Lowest numbers first");
  • "Search" by room number.

A room's card shows the building and floor, the address, and "until 15:30" or "For the rest of the day" for a free room, "Busy" or "Busy until 13:30" for a busy one. Tapping a room number (here and on the floor page) opens the room sheet: building, floor, "How to get there", the address and "Route in Yandex Maps" — the way to the building from where you are now. Where the menu has "Map", the sheet also has "Directions" and "Show the building on the map" — for rooms that are marked on it.

To choose a room without opening it, the card has three more hints:

  • for a busy room — which group and which lesson (lecture, practical) is in it now;
  • a day strip: of the day's classes, the ones when the room is busy are filled in, with the caption "Busy slots: 3 of 6";
  • "next free from 13:40" — from which class the room is free that day; if there are no more lessons until the end of the day, it says "no free slot left".

The same lines are in the room sheet, in the "Occupancy" row.

Above the list, when "Right now" and "Free" are chosen, the group "Free soon" appears: busy rooms whose lesson ends within the next 15 minutes, with the caption "frees up at 13:30". It helps when no room is free but the wait is short.

There is no filter by room type (lecture hall, computer room) or by capacity yet: the room directory does not have this information. You can narrow the list by building and floor.

Rooms, groups and teachers

Tabs with the same layout: how many lessons and hours fall on each room, group or teacher over a period, when the peak is, how the load is spread over the days of the week and what percentage of time is taken. The period is set with the "From" and "To" fields; empty fields mean the current week. Search looks by room number, group name or teacher's full name; for rooms there are also "Building", "Floor" and "Order". Tapping a teacher opens their card.

On the "Rooms" tab a room's row opens that room's sheet — building, floor, "How to get there" and the address; what a tap will do is told by the caption on hover, for example "8516: where it is and how to get there", and on a phone by a long press.

The list is split into pages: "Total: …", the "Per page" choice, the "Previous" and "Next" buttons.

Institutes

The "Institutes" filter is the same as everywhere in the app: with institutes chosen, the lists keep only their rooms, and the load is counted only over their lessons. The choice here changes the institutes on other pages too.

A link to a selection

The tab, all the filters and the search text are kept in the page address. The "Share" button copies a link to the same selection, "Reset all filters" returns the page to its default view, and right after that the reset can be undone. If you leave the page and come back through the menu, the filters, except the date and the period, are restored until the end of the session.

While the list loads and if there is nothing

While the data loads, grey placeholder rows stand in place of the list. If nothing matched, the page says "Nothing found" (on the "Free now" tab — "No rooms are free") and "Try changing the filters"; if filters are set, there is a "Reset filters" button next to it. If the data did not load, you see "Could not load the data" (with no connection — "No connection to the server") and the "Try again" button.

On a computer

The tabs, "Institutes" and all the filters are above the list; at the bottom is a line with the number of records, the page size and the page numbers.

On a phone

Under the tabs there is a row of chips, and the answer is visible first, not a form:

  • the first chip is the moment or the period: "Right now, 16:05" or "Slot 3 · 12:00 — 13:30" on the "Free now" tab, "This week" or the chosen dates on the others;
  • on the tabs about rooms — "Building: all" or "Building: 3";
  • "More filters" — with the number of filters set, if there are any.

Any chip opens the "Filters" sheet: it holds "Institutes" and all the filters of the current tab. At the bottom of the sheet are "Reset" and "Show N", where N is how many records the answer will have; "Show" closes the sheet.

Under the list — "Total: …", the "Per page" choice, "Page 1 of 3", and the "Previous" and "Next" buttons appear only when such a page exists.

The floor page

A link to one floor of one institute opens the floor page: a heading like "VISh · Floor 3", the "Rooms on this floor" section — which rooms on it are free now — and the institute's "Upcoming classes" on this floor marked "In progress". Rooms that have no floor in the directory are gathered separately — "Floor unknown": any of them may be on this floor. The "All rooms" link leads to the usual "Occupancy". Such a link is given by the QR code on the screen at the floor — about the screen see the page Schedule, the section "Screen for a TV".
