VISH app — RUT (MIIT) timetable

The timetable of the Russian University of Transport for students and staff of every institute. The timetable of your own group and of any teacher by day and week, free MIIT rooms right now, occupancy of rooms, groups and teachers, notifications about timetable changes and an AI timetable assistant.

Institutes

The RUT (MIIT) app covers five institutes: VISH — Higher Engineering School, AGA — Civil Aviation Academy, ADKH — Road Management Academy, PISH — Advanced Engineering School “HSR Academy” and IMTK — Institute of International Transport Communications. A group’s and a teacher’s timetable are searched the same way in any of them.

Schedule

Updated 28.10.2026

The main page of the app. Until a group or a teacher is chosen, search opens instead of the timetable — on a phone and on a desktop alike (see below).

Search on the start screen

On a desktop, instead of an empty grid, the "Find your timetable" screen opens with a single field: "Group, teacher or room". Start typing — the hyphen and the keyboard layout do not matter, for example "shad211", "Pinchuk" or "4205" — and pick the right one in the results: the timetable opens at once. Search also opens with the "/" key. The results are split into "Groups", "Teachers" and "Rooms"; a room leads to the "Auditories" section.

On a phone, under the filter chips there is the field "Group or surname", and under it examples — "shad211", "Pinchuk", "4205": tapping an example puts it into the field. While you search, there is a "Cancel" button next to the field; the results are split the same way, and picking one opens the timetable at once.

If institutes are chosen in the settings, search covers only them — a hint says so, and "Search everywhere" removes it. The groups and teachers you picked earlier are collected in the "Recent" list (the "Clear" button wipes it). Next to it is "Free now": how many rooms are free right now, with a link to the free rooms (a card on a desktop, a row on a phone), see Workload and free rooms. Without a connection, search works for groups only.

Further down the same screen:

  • "All groups" — all groups by institute and year. Tapping a group makes it yours, just like picking it in search or in the "Group" chip: it is remembered on this device, and after you sign in, in your account too, and the app opens it by itself on the next launch. On a desktop, a click with Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) opens the group in a new tab and selects nothing. If institutes are chosen in the filter, only their groups are shown, and "Show all" lifts the limit;
  • "About the app" — in short, what VISH can do;
  • "Sections" — links to teachers, rooms, workload, the AI assistant (where it is on), the handbook and the installation guide;
  • "Questions and answers" — answers to common questions. The questions are collapsed: tap a question to open the answer and tap it again to collapse it; more on the page Questions and answers about the VISH app.

On a phone, at the very bottom there is one more row of links: schedule, teachers, rooms, workload, AI assistant (where it is on), handbook, installation guide and "Settings", as well as "About the app" (the VISH site) and "RUT (MIIT)" (the university site).

The top bar on a phone

The schedule bar on a phone has three rows.

  1. The "☰" menu, the "Institute" filter and the action buttons: the change feed, the bell, the pencil (edit the schedule) and the plus (add a lesson). The pencil and the plus show only if you have the right to edit the schedule.
  2. The "Group" and "Teacher" chips on one line.
  3. The "Is this your group?" chip — only while someone else's group is open.

The top row stays in place when you scroll and sits on a translucent backing, so the menu, the institute and the actions are always at hand. On a narrow phone the buttons run out of room: the extra actions go into the "More" sheet (the "…" button). Only actions go there — the filters always stay in the bar. While editing is on (the pencil), the pencil stays in the row. The search fields on a phone are set in 16-pixel type, so the screen does not zoom in when a field gets focus.

Choosing a group

On a desktop, the "Group" chip sits above the grid. Tap it, start typing the group code in the "Search group" field and pick the one you need. The groups are arranged by institute.

On a phone, the "Group" chip (in the second row of the bar, next to the "Teacher" chip) opens the "Select a group" sheet with the same search. Picking a group in the list closes the sheet at once; when a group is already chosen, a "Clear group" button appears at the bottom and removes the choice. The cross on the chip removes the choice too.

If institutes are ticked in the settings, the list has only the groups of those institutes.

A teacher's timetable

The "Teacher" filter shows the classes of one teacher. If a group is chosen as well, only the teacher's classes in that group are shown. To see all of a teacher's classes in all groups, open their card in the "Teachers" section and tap "View schedule".

A link to the schedule

The chosen group, the teacher and the date go into the page address, so a timetable can be sent as a link. The address uses:

  • "group" — the group code, for example "?group=<group code>". The code must match exactly;
  • "teacher" — the teacher's full surname, first name and patronymic, for example "?teacher=<full name>". If two teachers at the university have the same name, the app will not choose for you and leaves the filter empty;
  • "scope=all" — all of the teacher's classes, not only those in the chosen group;
  • "date" — the date as "YYYY-MM-DD". Today's date is not written into the address: a page opened "for today" stays "/schedule", and "?date=" appears only when another day is chosen and disappears on "Today";
  • "institutes" — the institutes chosen in the filter: they narrow the choice of groups and teachers.

If an institute is no longer in the catalogue, a link with the old code opens on its successor and changes the address by itself: for example, IUCT opens as IZhT.

Moving through the side menu, the footer and the bottom bar keeps what you chose: the institutes and the day, and for the schedule also the group and the teacher. Parameters the page does not use do not get into the address.

The links have no internal identifiers: a group code and a teacher's name survive a reload of the directories, and identifiers do not. So a link sent today will open a month from now too.

The page address depends on what is open. A group lives at "/schedule/group/<group code>" (the same timetable as "?group=<group code>"), and a free choice, with no group in the address, at "/schedule". In the schedule a teacher stays in the "?teacher=…" parameter; the address "/teachers/<identifier>" is not a schedule but a teacher's card in the "Teachers" section.

Week and day

On a desktop, the schedule is shown as a grid for the week: days in columns, time down the side, the red line is the current time. A day without classes is not drawn in the grid — neither the column nor its heading — and the other days share the width; if there are no classes all week, the grid is replaced by "No classes this week". The current-time line and its time label show only inside the grid: after the last class ends and before the first begins they are absent.

On a phone, one day is shown. Swipe left or right across the list of classes to go to another day, or tap the day you need in the strip above the list. The arrows next to the name of the week turn the weeks, and tapping the name opens the week picker.

Next to the week it says which one it is — the first or the second: "1st week" or "2nd week". Outside the semester it says "Outside the semester".

A class

A class card shows: the time and the number of the class, the subject, the room and the type of class, the teachers, the groups, the number of notes and the reactions. For a class in progress a progress bar fills. A cancelled class is marked "Lesson cancelled".

If a class in the schedule differs from the university's schedule because an institute staff member changed it, a small framed mark "Changed by the institute" appears on the card (on a phone) and on the block in the week grid (on a desktop); a screen reader reads it too. Who exactly changed it is not shown.

The room number on the card and in the lesson sheet (on a phone), in the block of the week grid and in the room row of the lesson window (on a desktop) opens the room sheet: the building, the floor, "How to get there", the address and the "Route in Yandex Maps" button — the way to the building from where you are now (if the building has no point on the map, "Open in Yandex Maps"). What is still missing in the directory is marked "Not specified yet", and for the map "No map link added yet". Where the menu has "Map" and the room is marked on it, the sheet also has "Directions" — a route across the campus from the room of the previous class — and "Show the building on the map"; the same "Directions" row is in the lesson sheet on a phone. The same sheet opens from the free rooms and the floor plan on the page Workload.

A teacher's surname on the card is a link to their page, and the name of a group, other than the one that is open, is a link to that group's timetable; the same jump is on the teacher's page, where the groups are links too. Tapping the rest of the card, as before, opens the class.

On a desktop, clicking a class opens a window with its details. The notes to the class, the teachers' cards and the "To calendar" button are here too.

On a phone, tapping opens a sheet with the details: "Lesson type", "Teacher", "Group", "Room", "Subgroup", "Starts", "Ends", and for a cancelled class "Status". Below are "To calendar" and the notes. Tapping a teacher opens their card.

Above the list on a phone there is a summary of the day: "2nd class in progress · 40 min left", "Next class in 15 min" or "No more classes today". On a desktop, the header of the schedule has a small "until the end of the class" line: "Now the 2nd class, 40 min to the end" or "Break: the 3rd class in 15 min". The full times of the classes are on the page Bell times.

My group and following a class

If someone else's group is open, the "Is this your group?" chip appears next to it: tapping it remembers the group as yours ("… is now your group"), and after you sign in it is kept in your account, and the app opens it by itself on any of your devices.

If you came by a link on a phone and have not been through the introduction to the app, and the group has classes split by subgroup, then after the chip the app asks "Your subgroup": "Subgroup 1", "Subgroup 2" or "All classes of the group". The step is optional: "Skip" closes the questions and keeps all the group's classes. After you choose a subgroup, the app may also offer to turn on notifications about changes and to install the app — that can be skipped too. You can always change the subgroup in the settings (see below).

If the classes of your group are split into subgroups, choose "Subgroup" in "Settings" → "Schedule and institutes": the classes of the other subgroup are hidden, and classes with no subgroup stay. The filter applies only to your own group — someone else's group and a teacher's schedule are shown in full.

On a class in the grid (on a phone, under the card, next to the reactions), after you sign in there is a bell "Follow this lesson and hear about changes to it", and next to it the number of followers. This way you can follow a class that is not in your schedule — a lecture for another stream, an exam in someone else's group. You learn about changes just as you do about your own: in the app, in the messenger and in the calendar. Tapping again turns following off. If staff announced the class, it says "Announced".

Favourites

The star in the top bar remembers what you are looking at now: a group or a teacher. The saved items appear next to the chips (on a phone under the group and teacher chips, on a desktop under the filter row), and you can switch to any of them with one tap. Tapping a filled star again removes the item. The star is on the teacher's page too.

Favourites hold up to five items. The app will not add a sixth and tells you to remove one of the five first.

Switching a favourite changes only what the schedule shows: the group and the teacher in your profile stay as they were, and after a restart your group opens. The list itself is kept in the profile and synchronised between devices after you sign in.

If a group or teacher is no longer in the directory (group numbers change after the schedule is updated), the item does not disappear by itself: a grey tag "Unavailable" appears in the row, and tapping it removes the item from favourites.

Share a group

When a group is open, you can send it to a chat with one link. On a phone the "Share a link for the group" item is in the "☰" menu, on a desktop the "Share" item is in the "Export" menu above the grid. The "Share a link for the group" window opens; neither you nor those you write to need to sign in.

In the window:

  • "Telegram" and "MAX" — links to the bot with this group: whoever taps "Start" gets messages about changes in its schedule. The button shows only if this platform's bot works on the stand;
  • "Notify me about changes" — a switch for notifications in this browser, also without signing in. If someone else's group is open, it becomes yours as soon as the browser allows notifications. On iPhone notifications work only in the installed app: in Safari tap "Share" → "Add to Home Screen", open VISH from its icon and turn them on there — until then a hint stands in place of the switch;
  • a QR code with the link to the group's schedule — point the phone's camera at it and the schedule opens. The link leads to "/schedule/group/<group code>" and carries the tags "utmsource=share", "utmmedium=link", "utm_campaign=group"; with them we count how many people came through invitations;
  • "Copy link" — the same address as in the QR code, differing in the "utm_content" tag (in the QR code "qr", in the copied link "copy").
  • "Ready message for the group chat" — a text with the group name, the link to the timetable (tag "utm_content=post") and the links to the Telegram and MAX bots. "Copy message" puts it on the clipboard, "Send" opens the system share window of the phone or browser (where there is none, there is no button). Paste the message into the group chat and pin it;
  • "Print poster" — an A5 page with the group name, a large QR code and the caption "Point your phone's camera". The button opens the browser's print dialog: print the poster and hang it in the classroom or at the entrance. The code leads to the same group timetable, tag "utm_content=poster";
  • "N people subscribed through your link. M more group chats." — a counter seen only by the group's head and deputy head (and staff allowed to manage the group directory). It counts those who pressed "Start" in the bot through a link from the ready message: people in private chats and group chats separately. These are only numbers: you will not see who subscribed. Others do not see the line.

The bot links in the ready message differ from ordinary group links by a "_s" tag at the end: this is how we tell subscriptions that came through the message. The bot buttons in the window itself lead to ordinary links and are not counted. The poster leads to the timetable page, not to a bot.

When nothing is shown

  • Nothing is chosen — search opens (see "Search on the start screen").
  • "No classes today" — a day without classes is chosen.
  • "Self-study day" (on a phone) — on a weekday the group has no classes, although on the other days of this week it does. Sunday, a week with no classes at all, days outside the semester and a teacher's schedule are not labelled this way.
  • "No classes found" — the chosen teacher does not teach this group on this day.

Holidays and moved days

The app does not mark public holidays and moved working days separately: it shows the classes that stand in the university's schedule. If classes are left in the schedule on a holiday, ask your institute whether they will take place.

Seasonal decoration — snow in winter, autumn figures for Halloween and other ornaments — is set in "Settings" → "Appearance" → "Holiday effects": it can be turned off, made less frequent or smaller; details on the page Settings and profile. It does not affect the schedule itself.

Updating

The open week updates by itself, without reloading the page. Changes, additions and cancellations arrive at once, and the bell collects them in a list — see the page Notifications.

Announcements

If an institute's staff published an announcement for the open group — for everyone, for its institute, year or the group itself — it appears as a card above the schedule, on a phone and on a desktop. There is one card: if there are several announcements, the newest of those you have not yet hidden is shown. The text is shown in the language of the app, even if the author wrote in another. If there is no translation yet, the app requests it itself, and until then the original text is shown with a "Translate" button.

The cross on the card hides the announcement. This is remembered on this device, for each announcement separately: other announcements will still appear, and a hidden one will not come back. The announcement itself goes away when it expires or when staff take it down; a corrected announcement updates in place. A new announcement appears in the open app at once, without a reload. While no group is chosen, there are no announcements.

Exam session

When the open group or teacher has an exam or a credit in the next 30 days, an "Exam session" button appears next to the schedule: on a desktop among the actions of the top bar, on a phone as a separate row under the title. If there are no exams or credits ahead, there is no button.

It opens a view of the schedule at the address "?view=session" (the page itself stays "/schedule" and the address for search engines does not change). It is not a separate section: it shows the exam session of the group or teacher chosen in the schedule. The list by day has exams, credits and consultations: the date, the time, the room, the kind and the teacher. Cancelled rows are struck through and marked "cancelled"; if no room is given, it says so. If nothing is chosen, the view prompts you to choose a group or a teacher.

The "Timetable" button returns to the usual grid. On a group's page (not a teacher's) the same view and the class times are available as plain links — "Bell times" leads to /bells, "Exam session: exams and credits" opens "?view=session". The "Download calendar file" button saves the same exams, credits and consultations as an .ics file (vish-session.ics); it is there while the list has anything in it. The file is a one-off snapshot, like "Download .ics file" in the schedule export. Changes in the exam session bring the same notifications as other classes. The "Exam session" view works on d1; it is not yet in production.

At the start of the "Exam session" view there is a countdown to the nearest uncancelled exam or credit: "3 days to the exam", "Exam tomorrow", and on the day of the exam the hours and minutes to the start. Consultations do not start the countdown. A class whose name contains the Russian word for "retake" is marked with the "Retake" badge. The room number is a link: it opens "Auditories" with this number in the search, to find the room.

Under the list is a personal list "To hand in before admission": write in what you need to hand in (a coursework, labs, debts) and tick off what is done; the cross removes an item, up to 30 items in all. The list is kept only on this device, separately for each group or teacher, and is sent nowhere; only how often the list is used is counted, without the text of the items.

Export to calendar

"Export to calendar" (on a desktop the "To calendar" item in the "Export" menu above the grid, on a phone in the "☰" menu) opens a window with three ways:

  • "Subscribe in calendar" — the calendar on your phone or computer rereads the schedule by itself: a moved class moves, a cancelled one is marked as cancelled, a deleted one disappears. Works on iOS, macOS and Android.
  • "Download .ics file" — a one-off snapshot that does not update.
  • "Copy link" — for calendars where a subscription is added by hand.

The "Show QR code" button shows the link as a code, to open it on a phone. Below you can choose which subjects get into the calendar: untick the extra ones. A subscription limited to subjects will receive new classes in them, but a class in a new subject will have to be ticked here again.

A single class can also be added to the calendar: the "To calendar" button is in the lesson window on a desktop and in the details sheet on a phone.

Where the personal calendar is on, the export window has the link "Add your own calendars to VISH →", and the lesson window and sheet have "Add a note or deadline to this class".

PDF

On a desktop only: the "PDF for two weeks" item in the "Export" menu above the grid downloads the schedule of the chosen group or teacher for two weeks — the current and the next, one table per week.

TV screen

At the address "/tv" the schedule of all groups for today opens: by class and by building, scrolling by itself to the current class and refreshing every two minutes.

The settings icon on the screen lets you choose the institute, the floor and the language. All three choices are kept in the address — "?institute=…&floor=5&lang=ru" — so the screen is set up once by pasting the link into the browser of the information panel, and the setting is not lost on reinstalling.

The institute and floor the screen is tied to are written in the page heading. This page is not in the menu — it is opened by its address.
