From where VISH gets the data for the map of the campus and districts RUT (MIIT) and under what conditions. How to use the map is on the How to navigate the campus page.
OpenStreetMap
The map of the main campus and the diagrams of the districts around other sites are drawn VISH according to OpenStreetMap (opens in a new tab), an open map compiled by participants from all over the world. It contains the contours of buildings (and university buildings), entrances and КПП, pedestrian paths, metro stations, MCC, MCD and electric trains with exits, as well as shops, cafes, pharmacies, copy centers and ATMs near their opening hours. The walking time is calculated along these paths.
OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0), © OpenStreetMap members. The signature “© OpenStreetMap participants” is on each diagram and its picture, and the license terms are on the OpenStreetMap copyright (opens in a new tab) page. The schemas themselves are saved at VISH, with the date of the data, and no external service is needed to display them.
If something is missing or incorrect in the diagram, it can be fixed in the OpenStreetMap itself - the edit will be included in the diagrams at the next update.
University data and our crawl
The contours of the buildings on top of the live Yandex Map VISH were drawn by myself according to the “Scheme of buildings MIIT”, which the university published in Yandex Maps in 2020, so this is a diagram, not a geodetic plan. The numbers and names of buildings, institutes, floors and passageways, places inside buildings and building opening hours are collected VISH from Navigator and materials RUT (MIIT) and our campus tour. The date of this data is at the bottom of the case card, and an amendment is sent to “report an inaccuracy” there.
Yandex Maps
There is no Yandex data in the district diagrams: VISH does not save any maps, routes, or places from Yandex Maps. Yandex.Maps only appear in the app in two ways:
- Links. “Route in Yandex Maps” and “Open in Yandex Maps” open a route or location in Yandex Maps — in the app, if installed, or on the website.
- Click on a live map. “Show on Yandex Map” — the button with the globe icon at the zoom buttons — loads the Yandex Map directly in the app, only when you click on it, and within the free openings per day.
Opening hours may be outdated
The opening hours and the places themselves are taken from the open data on the date indicated at the bottom of the “Nearby” section. The place could have closed or changed the clock, and where the clock is not specified, it says “specify the clock”. Before hiking, check the place using the link in Yandex Maps.
